Report from the City of Fort Worth

Our efforts to date have resulted in a significant increase in our shelter live release rate from 35% in 2009 to a high of 70% in December 2012 and a sustained average rate of 65% for the past year.  Healthy, adoptable animals are now finding new homes; however, we continue to strive to work with the next tier of shelter animal that has illness, injury or temperament issues that are potentially manageable or treatable with additional time and resources.

The Fort Worth Partnership for Pets (FWPP) is a strategic partnership that includes The City of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control, the Saving Hope Foundation, the Humane Society of North Texas, the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP), and Spay Neuter Network. FWPP’s mission involves partnering to save the lives of animals and engaging the community through adoptions/rescue, spay/neuter, and education.
